With just two wickets down, Pakistan scored 143 runs to win the three-match series against Australia.
In today’s match, Pakistani fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi delivered outstanding performances, each taking three wickets. They dismissed Jake Fraser-McGurk for 7 runs and Aaron Hardie for 12 runs during the powerplay.
Rauf further strengthened Pakistan’s position by taking the catch of Glenn Maxwell, leaving Australia struggling at 79-5. Pakistan’s fast bowlers did not use any spin and kept up the pressure with fast bowling, quickly dismissing the remaining Australian batsmen. Sean Abbott was the top scorer for Australia, making 30 runs.
In Pakistan’s batting innings, Saim Ayub (42*) and Abdullah Shafique (37*) played excellent controlled innings, taking charge of the match and steering Pakistan toward victory.
Expressing his thoughts on this historic win, Mohammad Rizwan, who was captaining the team for the first time in a series, said, “This is a very special moment for me.” He also praised the remarkable performance of the team’s fast bowlers and lauded openers Saim and Abdullah for giving the team a solid start in both the second and third ODIs.
Rauf, who took three wickets in today’s match and was named Player of the Match, also won the Player of the Series award for taking 10 wickets in the series.
