Meanwhile, kerosene has decreased by Rs1.48, with the new price at Rs161.54 per litre compared to the previous Rs163.02. Light-diesel oil has also dropped by Rs2.61, from Rs150.12 to Rs147.51 per litre.

Global fuel prices recently declined by $1.5 and $2.5 per barrel, respectively. Considering the current exchange rate and tax rates, it was anticipated that the government would provide relief to the public by lowering petrol and HSD prices by Rs3 and Rs2.30 per litre, respectively.

“The public was hoping for a reduction in petrol and diesel prices, but the government has dealt a major blow by increasing the prices of petrol and diesel in Pakistan.”
