While it’s projected to have the lowest opening of the trilogy domestically, the global outlook is promising. Early estimates suggest a worldwide launch of $180 million, which is a 5% increase compared to the opening of Venom: Let There Be Carnage ($171.6 million) in 2021.

As of Thursday, the film has already racked up $35.8 million globally, thanks in part to its $8.5 million from the U.S./Canada early screenings that kicked off at 2 p.m. across 3,452 locations.

The film debuted in China on Wednesday, earning $9.4 million and marking the largest opening day for a comic book movie since 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. So far, it has collected $14.7 million from the Chinese market.

In North America, the original Venom launched with $80.2 million in 2018, setting an October record. That title was claimed a year later by Joker ($96.2 million). The sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, opened in October 2021 with $90 million, providing a much-needed boost for theater owners still recovering from the pandemic, and proving to be a significant success for Sony.

Venom: The Last Dance is poised to secure the biggest opening of October 2024 thus far, especially after Joker: Folie à Deux stumbled with a $37 million debut following its sequel's rare D CinemaScore.

The series has struggled with critical acclaim, with the latest entry currently holding a 37% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom 3 features Tom Hardy reprising his role as the titular character. Hardy also co-wrote the screenplay with Marcel, who makes her directorial debut with this film. 4o mini
